Backup & Disaster Recovery

What would happen to your business if you suddenly lost everything? If, for example, a fire ravaged your site, could you come back? Insurance would pay to rebuild and hold you over during the interruption. You could find an alternative site for an interim period or even permanently. You could replace furnishings, materials and supplies, and get your business back up and running. Unless you lost your data.

Let’s face it: in this day and age the most important business asset you have is information. This includes your trade secrets, your business processes, your customer lists, your contracts, your accounts receivable, and on and on. You can survive virtually any other kind of loss, but a loss of your data could be crippling. That’s why KMF Technologies makes backup and disaster recovery such a high priority for our clients. Like all types of insurance — liability, business interruption, workers’ compensation, etc. — we hope you never need it. But when disaster strikes, it’s great to know your data is secure.

Flexible backup and recovery
solutions scaled to your needs.

KMF offers a variety of backup solutions, so we can help you choose the one that’s right for you. When choosing the right backup, the most important factor to consider is the type of business you’re engaged in. What is the size of your operation? How “data dependent” is your business? How quickly would you need to be up and running again after a disaster? The answers to these questions and more help us determine the proper solution for you.

Daily Backups

This is a widely used option which we generally recommend. Even if a total loss of data occurs, we can retrieve the data in minutes. However, with daily backups, a user must take care not to open a new file and accidentally delete it before the backup runs that evening. New files created and deleted before the next backup cannot be restored the following day.

Continuous Backups

With this option, backups occur automatically as soon as a user modifies a file. This eliminates the risk of a new file being deleted as described above. Continuous backup allows a user to retrieve any file he or she creates. This process is more costly, but may be crucially important to certain businesses.

If you require disaster recovery, the backup would have to be offsite. The most common practice is to simply automate the backup files to a remote data center. In the event of a catastrophe, we can then recreate the servers with new hardware and have the environment up and running within a few days. Another recovery option is to have the backups automatically restore the data in an offsite server. Then, if and when disaster strikes, your network can be up and running again in a matter of hours.

The key to getting a reliable backup and recovery service that meets your needs at the right price is to consult a knowledgeable IT professional who puts your interests first. That’s exactly what you get when you consult with KMF.
